In September 2018, Marvel Studios was working on several limited series for the Disney+ streaming service, owned by the Walt Disney Company, focusing on secondary characters from Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films such as Scarlet Witch. Variety reported that actors playing the characters in the films would reprise their roles in the limited series, including Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, and that each series would have six to eight episodes, with a “high budget” on par with film productions. In addition, the series would have been produced directly by Marvel Studios rather than marvel Television, which had produced the previous television series of the MCU, also following the closure of the latter, incorporated into Marvel Studios on December 10, 2019. It was reported that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige would play an “active role” in the development of each series, focusing on “continuity of the story” with the films and the actors who would reprise their roles from the films. 

In conjunction with each series, episodes composed of clips are published on the platform that have the purpose of summarizing the salient moments of characters and objects protagonists of the same; the television miniseries is called Marvel Studios: Legends.

S.H.I.E.L.D (2018)

S.H.I.E.L.D. is a fictional espionage, special law enforcement, and counter-terrorism agency appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Strange Tales #135 (Aug. 1965), it often deals with paranormal and superhuman threats to international security.

Marvel Studios: Legends (2021)

Marvel Studios: Legends is an American television docuseries created for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics characters and objects that appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Produced by Marvel Studios, each episode showcases an individual character or object with footage from past MCU films, highlighting their prominent moments from the MCU.

WandaVision (2021)

WandaVision is an American television miniseries created by Jac Schaeffer for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision. It is the first television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise, and is set after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019). It follows Wanda Maximoff and Vision as they live an idyllic suburban life in the town of Westview, New Jersey, until their reality starts moving through different decades of sitcom homages and television tropes. Schaeffer served as head writer for the series, which was directed by Matt Shakman.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021)

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is an American television miniseries created by Malcolm Spellman for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Sam Wilson / Falcon and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier. It is the second television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise, and is set six months after Sam Wilson was handed the mantle of Captain America in the film Avengers: Endgame (2019). Wilson teams up with Bucky Barnes to stop anti-patriots who believe the world was better during the Blip. Spellman served as head writer for the series, which was directed by Kari Skogland.

Loki (2021)

Loki is an American television series created by Michael Waldron for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. It is the third television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. The series takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. Waldron served as head writer and Kate Herron directed the first season, with Eric Martin and the duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead serving as head writer and leading the directing team for the second season, respectively.

What if...? (2021)

What If…? is an American animated anthology series created by A. C. Bradley for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name. It is the fourth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, and the studio’s first animated series. The series explores alternate timelines in the multiverse that show what would happen if major moments from the MCU films occurred differently. Bradley serves as head writer with Bryan Andrews directing.

Hawkeye (2021)

Hawkeye is an American television miniseries created by Jonathan Igla for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Clint Barton / Hawkeye and Kate Bishop / Hawkeye. It is the fifth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise and taking place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019). Igla served as head writer with Rhys Thomas leading the directing team.

Moon Knight (2022)

Moon Knight is an American television miniseries created by Jeremy Slater for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. It is the sixth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to be produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Slater serves as head writer with Mohamed Diab leading the directing team.

Ms. Marvel (2022)

Ms. Marvel is an American television miniseries created by Bisha K. Ali for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. It is the seventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Ali serves as head writer with Adil & Bilall (Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah) leading the directing team.

I Am Groot (2022)

I Am Groot is an upcoming American animated series of shorts created for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character Groot. It features characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The series is produced by Marvel Studios, with Kirsten Lepore directing. Vin Diesel reprises his role as the voice of Baby Groot from the MCU films. I Am Groot was announced in December 2020. Production of the series’ photorealistic animation had begun by August 2021, with Lepore and writer Ryan Little revealed in November 2021.

I Am Groot is scheduled to premiere with five shorts on Disney+ on August 10, 2022, as a part of Phase Four of the MCU.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is an upcoming American television series created by Jessica Gao for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character She-Hulk. It is intended to be the eighth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Gao serves as head writer with Kat Coiro leading the directing team.
