Hefei is the capital and largest city of Anhui Province, People’s Republic of China. A prefecture-level city, it is the political, economic, and cultural center of Anhui. Its population was 9,369,881 as of the 2020 census and its built-up (or metro) area made up of four urban districts plus Feidong, Feixi and Changfeng counties being urbanized, was home to 7,710,481 inhabitants. Located in the central portion of the province, it borders Huainan to the north, Chuzhou to the northeast, Wuhu to the southeast, Tongling to the south, Anqing to the southwest and Lu’an to the west. A natural hub of communications, Hefei is situated to the north of Chao Lake and stands on a low saddle crossing the northeastern extension of the Dabie Mountains, which forms the divide between the Huai and Yangtze rivers. Bao Zheng (包拯Bāo Zhěng; 5 March 999 – 3 July 1062), commonly known as Bao Gong (包公Bāo Gōng; ‘Lord Bao’), was a Chinese politician during the reign of Emperor Renzong in China’s Song Dynasty. During his twenty-five years in civil service, Bao consistently demonstrated extreme honesty and uprightness, with actions such as sentencing his own uncle, impeaching an uncle of Emperor Renzong’s favourite concubine and punishing powerful families. His appointment from 1057 to 1058 as the prefect of Song’s capital Kaifeng, where he initiated a number of changes to better hear the grievances of the people, made him a legendary figure. During his years in office, he gained the honorific title Justice Bao (包青天) due to his ability to help peasants overcome corruption.

Lord Bao's Park

Situated in southeast of the old city of Hefei, Lord Bao Park is established to commemorate Bao Zheng (999-1062), a famous minister of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). The Park covers a total area of 30.5 hectares of which the water area is about 15 hectares. It has an open-air layout and mainly comprises the Temple of Lord Bao, Tomb of Lord Bao, Qingfeng Pavilion and Fuzhuang Yard.

Bao Zheng's Ancestral House of Anhui

Visiting Bao Zheng's Ancestral House, you can not only learn the story of Bao Zheng, but also admire the traditional complex. Climbing to the top floor of the building, the view from above is also a big highlight of this park.

Bao Zheng Cemetery

This is the actual burial area of Bao Zheng and a wax museum depicting him. In the small indoor museum, you can enjoy an interesting video telling the discovery and transportation of his remains from Kaifeng to Hefei.

Qingfeng Pavilion

The Drum Tower of Xi'an, located in the heart of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, Northwestern China, along with the Bell Tower is a symbol of the city. Erected in 1380 during the early Ming Dynasty, it stands towering above the city center and offers incredible view of Xi'an.
